This 84 000-square-foot project consists of 68 units in a 12-storey concrete building over 2 levels of underground parking. Replacing an existing apartment at the end of its useful life, the project is designed for a height and density which reinforces the definition of the Beacon Hill park edge, yet does not encroach on the character of the surrounding neighbourhood of mostly single-family homes. With alternating balconies, glazed vertical circulation and lobbies, and LEED registration, 200 Douglas seeks to challenge traditional multi-family mid-rise typology while exemplifying sustainable building practice.
